About the Project

Kalfa is the AI atelier we designed for artists who write stage plays, screenplays, stories, and poetry. It takes its name from the "kalfa" — the journeyman of the master-apprentice tradition: the AI is the journeyman, the master is always the artist. From idea to stage — under the artist's control. Creative writers keep running into the same problems with AI tools: context that resets with every chat, generic suggestions with no reasoning, and a "prompt in, finished work out" approach that takes control of the work away from its author. Kalfa solves these at the root. In Kalfa the center is not the chat but the work itself: writing, dramaturgy, lighting, and stage design all revolve around the same work and feed each other. Every suggestion cites the work: "Because of the tonal break in Act 2, Scene 3..." With the Creation Dial, you decide how much the AI intervenes: in Assistant mode it never touches the page — it only analyzes and offers reasoned suggestions. In Co-Creator mode you create together. In Generator mode it writes the first draft; but everything it produces is born as a "draft" and is never written into the work until you approve it. The Decision Ledger is the work's memory: every decision is kept in a single stream, together with its reasoning.
